Boy Scouts to serve the whole Family

The Boy Scouts of America's volunteer-led board of directors unanimously approved a plan to welcome girls and young women into all Scouting programs thus serving the entire family.

Cub Scouting will be available to girls beginning in 2018. A program for girls ages 11 to 17 will be announced in the coming year for projected introduction in 2019 and will enable young women to work toward the rank of Eagle.

Scouts help fire victims

Scouts Helping Scouts

Scouts and Scouters in the Golden Empire Council have assisted with projects to help the victims of the recent Northern California Fires.  A call came in requesting that Boy Scouts find a way to distribute over a thousand sifting boxes in Santa Rosa and Ukiah.  These boxes enable fire victims to sift through the ashes of their homes to find valued items.  Through connections between the Golden Empire Council, the Redwood Empire Council, and Mt. Diablo Silverado Council boxes were delivered and distributed by scouts to the many fire victims.  Other units gathered at the Red Cross Warehouse at the Sacramento Depot to construct more boxes that have been requested in other counties.  Fundraising efforts by units to help scout families and units recover from this terrible tragedy are ongoing.  Please contact the service center if you would like to assist our fellow scouts and scouters.
