Camp Cards

  1. Book your sites now. Do not wait till March to get started. Go to stores, talk to the manager, and get on their calendar soon.
  2. Fewer Scouts is Better. Don’t bring the whole pack or entire den when 2 to 3 Scouts at a time is ideal.
  3. 2 Hours Shifts- Don’t ask your Scouts or families to sell all day. It makes it hard to schedule for busy families and very long days for little ones. Get them in and out while they are still motivated and excited.
  4. Practice- Take a little time to practice with your Scouts the important things to consider at a sale. Introductions, eye contact, handshakes and saying that buying this $5 card will help send me to camp this summer goes a long way.
  5. Have Fun. If the leaders are enjoying themselves, the kids will too. Make it game to see who can ask the most people each 20 minutes. It keeps them focused and the time will pass faster.

Jamboree 2021

National Jamboree 2021

Save the date!  National Jamboree is July 21 – 30 in 2021 but we are planning now!  If you have interest in serving as one of the adult leaders, being on the committee to help our youth get to the Jamboree or think that your Scout might be interested, please click here to go to our National Jamboree webpage.  We expect our travel quotes to be in soon and are ready to get started.

What is Jamboree?  The National Scout jamboree is a gathering, or jamboree, of thousands of members of the Boy Scouts of America, usually held every four years and organized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Scouts from all over the United States will come together for 10 days of fun and fellowship at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.  The Summit is bursting with so many Scout activities, that it is almost impossible to do them all.  Scuba, zip lines, BMX Bikes, Climbing and Rappelling, Shooting Sports, Arena Shows, and more await your Scouts, so be on the lookout for more information as the registration process goes live in the next few months.  The Golden Empire Council contingent will consist of 220 Scouters, Venture Scouts, and both Boy and Girl Troops from Scouts, BSA.

Online Training

Are You a Trained Leader?

Every Scout deserves trained leaders.  Trained leaders help make the Scouting programs the best they can be.  Scouts who have the best programs are more engaged and more likely to stay in Scouting.

Position-specific training courses for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts (Scouts BSA) are available online.  Log on to to view and take the new training.

Support Scouting while you Shop

Are you using Smile when you shop at Amazon?  Amazon Smile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you.  When you shop at, Amazon will donate a portion of your purchase price to your favorite charitable organization.  The Golden Empire Council is listed as "Golden Empire Council - Boy Scouts of America Trust Fund".

So far Golden Empire Council participation in Amazon Smile has resulted in over $2,300 in donations.  Imagine what that might become if more Scouters Council-wide choose to do the same.

Annual GEC Calendar

At a recent Council Connections meeting which is a quarterly meeting that all district leadership and council committee leadership attend to keep our Council on track for GOLD, our volunteers developed the 2019 Golden Empire Council Calendar. We hope you plan to attend many of these exciting activities and use it to plan your unit activities.

Guide Star

Golden Empire Council – BSA earned the 2018 & 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency, from GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing these metrics, we’re helping the nonprofits like ours to move beyond simplistic financial ratios to assess nonprofit progress.

We chose to display quantitative metrics such as…

  • Number of Campers enrolled
