Summer Camp 2022

It’s time to get ready for the summer of 2022!

Cub Scouts are invited to “Join the Lassen Super League:  Unleash the Hero Within” at resident camp.  Experiences in nature, handicraft, campcraft, aquatics, fitness, archery, BB gun shooting, and showmanship are scheduled around delicious meals and free time activities. Get your youth and adults busy honing their superpowers and gathering the outfits, decorations, pack flag, and song or skit that goes with them.

Scouts BSA will encounter a new set of challenges and some old favorites at Camp Winton, from merit badges to free time activities.

2022 Camp Directors

Announcing our 2022 Camp Directors

We are excited to announce our camp directors for the 2022 camp season! Kathy Neuberger will be leading the superheroes at Camp Lassen. Bill Whitton is going to be our director at Camp Winton. Both of these wonderful people have a ton of great experience that will help both of our camps rise to new heights this year.

Please join us in welcoming them to our camping team!

PUSH Dinner

Please join the Golden Empire Council in giving young people the opportunity to join Scouting! The Boy Scouts of America PUSH Dinner is one of the premier fundraising events in the Sacramento area. The 2021 “Pop Up PUSH” is planned for Thursday November 18th at the Arden Hilton. The evening will begin with a reception at 6:00 P.M. followed by dinner at 7 P.M. We respectfully request your attendance and support as a donor or corporate sponsor of Scouting.

We’re excited to announce that this year’s theme is Superheroes. Often when we hear the word hero we think of Individuals with capes and superhuman strength. However, the truth is that heroes come in all shapes and sizes. A true hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength to preserver, endure overwhelming obstacles, and a desire to do good unto others.

Be a hero to Scouting today by pledging your support and attending the 2021 Pop Up PUSH Dinner. Please RSVP by November 11th using the link below. For more information, contact Justin Hernandez at Justin.hernandez@scouting.org . Thank you for all you do for Scouting and your consideration, I will see you November 18th.

Membership

We Want YOU!
Calling All Scouters to the GEC Fall Membership Drive

Do you know a youth that should be in a Scouting Unit but hasn’t found us yet?

As part of the Golden Empire Council’s Strategic Plan, we have set an ambitious goal around increasing our membership and the number of units we serve. This will allow us to bring the Scouting program to more families within our communities.

While the Council Membership Team is working hard on providing webinars, appearing at Rountables, and connecting with District leaders in this important recruiting season, we also need your help.

What Can YOU Do?

Letter to Supporters

A letter to our Supporters

During these unique times, it’s often easy to forget that as Scouts and Scouters we belong to a larger Scouting community. These families, much like yours, believe in the Scouting program and continue to donate their time, talent, and treasure.

Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America continues to instill young people with the values of loyalty, honesty, integrity, a deep love for the outdoors, and respect for our country. Friends of Scouting is the annual giving campaign to support the Golden Empire Council. Even during these unprecedented times, the cost of the Scouting program has not changed. $250 is still the cost of providing the scouting program to 1 Scout for 1 year. Please know that your direct support allows us to continue our mission and grow Scouting in our community.

There are several ways to donate now.

  1. Mail your donation to Po Box 13558 Sacramento, Ca 95853
  2. Text gecfos2021 to 844-615-4269
  3. Scan this code to donate online:

Please consider giving all that you can. While much of the world has stopped, our mission of scouting will not and has not paused. We hope that you can find peace knowing that scouting continues because of your generosity.  Your contribution allows us to bridge the gap and continue our mission. The world needs scouting now more than ever.

If you have already made a contribution to the Golden Empire Council, we thank you for your support.

Yours in Scouting,

Golden Empire Council

"Scouts's Own"
in a unique setting

"The Scoutmaster (Or any unit leader) should never waste the opportunity to let leadership spawn in each of the leadership positions. When our troop was on a weekend outing, Sunday Morning’s “Scout’s Own” turned out to be a most powerful time, given the unique setting.

The outing was a trip down the American River with an overnight camp at River Bend Park, and we had just such a special situation. That morning our Chaplain’s Aid put together a plan to hold our Scout’s own while afloat in the middle of the river. While the boys held all the canoes together, we exchanged our reflections on the trip. One boy eloquently related the whole arc of his Scouting story, since this was to be his last outing before aging out. He had also just earned his Eagle Scout rank. Without that unique opportunity, we may not have heard his story and what it meant to him to be there at that moment. Everyone was silent and respectful, listening with great interest and reverence."

"I have been asked to share my photographs and thoughts on our program with the GEC-BSA. What I want to do is teach and encourage others to use photography as a tool to reinforce their Scouting Program. I found during my time as Scoutmaster, that a scoutmaster (and other Scout leaders too!) can use photography to help model the 'Ideals of Scouting'. As a Scoutmaster you may observe something that you think might be a teachable moment or an example of a virtue of the program. Shoot it! Share it, on your website on a slide show to the troop, in emails or Troop Social Media and to SocialMedia@GEC-BSA.Org . The power of a good photograph is that you don't have to say a lot of words about it, it will tell the story itself."

Platinum, Top-rated, Reviewed

GEC-BSA is investment ready....

Golden Empire Council just re-qualified for it's '2021 GuideStar Platinum' rating of transparency, and also earned '2021 TOP-RATED' status with 'Greatnonprofits'.

If we add these recognitions to our local ‘Reviewed’ status with the 'Sacramento Region Community Foundation', and the BSA’s own Council Journey to Excellence GOLD
(For 2016 thru 2019 and now discontinued for Councils) it’s a powerful endorsement to donors that we are worthy of their investments.

Thanks again for all those who
helped us re-qualify for 2021!
