Where will you be in the summer of 2017? Do not miss the adventure that the Golden Empire Council Jamboree Contingent has planned. We are continuing to gather scouts interested in a once-in-a-lifetime adventue.
The Tour, the Golden Empire Council Jamboree contingent will arrive on the July 14th or 15th to tour the Washington, D.C. area and national treasures. The cost of the full tour option is $3,900.00. Tour Flyer.
The GEC Contingent will travel together by bus to the site of the National Scout Jamboree. At the conlusion of the National Scout Jamboree (July 28), the GEC Contingent will do some addtional sight-seeing before returning to Sacramento on July 29.

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL JAMBOREE?
The National Scout Jamboree is the premier event put on every four years by the Boy Scouts of America at the Summit Bechtel National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, National Scout Jamboree Overview. Over 40,000 Scouts and Scouters attended the 2013 Jamboree, and all the excitement of past Jamboree will be incorporated with new themes and shows. What goes on at a Jamboree? Everything that the combined resources of the National Council plus hundreds of the best volunteers from every local council can provide! For examples, 5.2 miles of zip line, canopy tours, rifle shooting, stand up paddle board, 36 and 50 mile mountain bike trails, bicycle motocross, rock climbing, rappelling towers, clay and trap shooting, fishing, dragon boat racing, scuba diving, kayaking, white water rafting, daily stage shows, OA American Indian Village and the Merit Badge Midway. GOLDEN EMPIRE COUNCIL CONTINGENT
The Golden Empire Council will be taking 3 Troops and a Crew to the 2017 National Jamboree and you can be part of the adventure. Prior to the National Jamboree, you will experience a pre-Jamboree Tour. Possible cities or locations the contingent may visit are Baltimore, Gettysburg and the Washington, D.C. area.
Boy Scouts will be placed in one of 3 troop's consisting of 36 Scouts and 4 adult leaders each. Venturing Scouts will be placed in a crew consisting of 8 Scouts and 2 adults leaders. Although the council has committed to have one Venturing crew additional crews (each crew has 8 youth/2 adults) could be added based on sign-ups. Once the units are formed and leaders selected you will receive information through your Jamboree unit leadership. Slots on the GEC 2017 National Scout Jamboree contingent are prioritized in the order they are received on a paid basis.
When registering, you will have the options to signs up to be a member of a Boy Scout troop or Venturing crew. The cost for attending the Naitonal Jambore is $3,900 with a $250.00 deposit is need to hold the youths spot. The cost covers the National Scout Jamboree fee, travel and tour expenses, meals, lodging, accident and sickness insurance, unit numbers, council shoulder patch and the cost of pre-jamboree training. Are there opportunities for Adults to be Contingent Leaders?
Yes! Each Troop and Crew will need a set of adult leaders. Please review the Adult Leader Application (revised 10/23/15) for information on positions and expectation until all positions have been filled. You can fax (916 929-4461) or email (email@example.com) the application to the Sacramento service center. On the fax cover sheet or the email subject line indicate "2017 National Jamboree". Applicants will be contact to participant in interviews at the council service center. Additional interviews may be scheduled as needed.
Are there opportunities for Adults to Staff at Jamboree?
