Experience the Flight Line Static displays, Merit Badge Midway, Action Alley, OA Village, Venturing Adventure, BB guns, archery, activity pin skills, bounce houses, Pinewood Derbies and many more activities. | Training - Paddle Sports Awareness - 2010 |

Paddle Sports Awareness
Interested in getting your Scouts out on the water? Then be sure to attend the High Adventure Team's Paddle Sports Awareness seminar! Learn about paddling gear and types of boats, the basic paddle strokes, safety considerations, water hazards, and then refine your technique on flat water and then moving water at the outdoor session.
This year's training dates are MAY 6 (evening) for the indoor session, MAY 22-23 for the outdoor practical session and May 27 for the indoor wrap up. The course is open to all BSA registered adults and Scouts over 15 years old.
Online registration is open until April 23rd. Space is limited so signup early! The course is open to all registered adult leaders and Scouts, age 15 or older (no exceptions, please!). All participants must be able to pass the BSA Swim Test as a 'swimmer' and must also file a local tour permit and provide completed Class 2 or 3 (age specific) medical forms.
The course fee is a real bargain compared to commercially available courses and includes camping fees at Lake Natoma and all paddling gear and boats. Help the hungry people in your community by participating in this "National Good Turn" on November 7th. This food drive is easy, helpful, and rewarding. And our local food banks are counting on the Boy Scouts to fill their shelves!
Download and save this document for all the information you will need, including instructions, permission slip, and sample flier you can modify and print! Please use the updated 2009 list of local food banks in this document. Contact ONLY the person listed here to arrange your donation drop off at the food bank.
Come to September, October, and November Roundtables to get more information. You can also get bags for distribution and help with any questions you have. NOTE: all Units in Auburn and Grass Valley MUST select a neighborhood collection site at Roundtable.

Are your unit tents looking old, worn? Are the poles bent, zippers not working? Have you tried finding replacement but the costs are high? Has the council’s Jamboree committee got a deal for your unit? The Eureka! Pinnacle Pass 3XTA tents used by the Jamboree participants are being sold for only a $100 each (retail price $219.90). These tents are only going to be used for 11 nights of camping and will be available in mid-August, after returning from the National Jamboree July 26 – August 4.

| Council - Sporting Clays 2010 Spring Shoot-Out |

The 3rd Annual GEC Sporting Clays Spring Shoot-Out for Scouting, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Camanche Hills Hunting Preserve in Ione, California. Invited to participate is adults and youth at least 12 years of age.
This is an all day-scheduled event with 24 stations available, 100 clay targets per shooter, raffle tickets for drawing and shooting games, prizes, and breakfast and lunch is included with shooter registration. Council is looking for at least 100 shooters with 5 shooters per team to fill. Check-in time is between 7:00 to 8:00 am. Practice shooting is from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and the event begins at 9:00 a.m.
Participation in this first-rate event will help benefit many activities, which help to create the future of our youths through the Boy Scouts of America. As we get into our 100th year of teaching the Scout Oath (value, respect, honest, trustworthy, bravery, and sincerity, above and beyond), Remember, this is what teaches the youth of today, to become the outstanding leaders of tomorrow.

| Join us on April 6, 2010 at the CSU, Sacramento University Union Ballroom. This is an annual event to acknowledge and recognize the hard work and dedication necessary for our young men that earn the Rank of Eagle. The event is free for youth that earned their Eagle in 2009. The cost to sponsor an Eagle for the evening is $95. Please join us in honoring these fine young men. |

2010 Resident Camp
Dates for 2010 Resident Camp are in! Registration deposits, confirmation and final payments can now be done online; this will make the paper registration form obsolete. Register for 2010 Resident Camp by using "Res Camp Registration" and creating a MYGEC login, when checking out, you can check out offline and print out a payment form to send to the Council office with your payment or have payment taken out of your unit account. Paper registration forms will not be accepted. |

We have seen thousands of terrific stories about Scouting leadership submitted to the National Hall of Leadership nomination database, but we know there are many more great stories out there yet to be shared!
We know that everyone is busy ramping up for a busy 1OOth Anniversary year. So, we’ve extended the nomination deadline to April 2, 2010. Our goal is to get the broadest representation possible from our councils across the country, and we want to make sure you have enough time to submit your nomination.
Based on this new schedule, the final group of inductees — one from each local council and one from the national council — will be announced July 31st as part of the 1OOth Anniversary events at the National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. | Wood Badge Course WE3-47-10 is now online at Event Reservation. Wood Badge is a 2, 3 day weekend course. It will be held at Camp Lassen. The course dates are May 14, 15,16, 21, 22, and 23. The start time will be approximately 7:30 AM both Fridays. The end time will be approximately 5:00 PM on both Sundays. It is a requirement to be at the course all 6 days. Complete field uniform (class A) is to be worn. |

Council Contingent Jamboree participant payments can be paid using the on-line registration process. Total cost is $3,500.00. Payment amounts are $100, $150 and $200. Combine amounts to pay more than amount shown (i.e. $350 select $100 & $150 amounts). Pay in advance or follow the payment schedule available on the council's National Jamboree website. Last payment is due May 2010. |
