• Leo R., Crew 30.
  Roseville LDS Stake, 211 Estates Dr., Roseville.
      I improved the look of all the woodwork in 20 rooms with Old English to take away scratches and give the wook a shine.  Filler pens were used to make bad scratches less noticable.  Total people involved = 25, total hours = 88.

• Andrew B., Troop 121.
  Olympus Junior High School, 2625 La Croix Drive, Roseville
      I built 12 lecture podiums to hold laptops that connected to the new interactive white-board.  The podiums were 4 ft. tall and had storage for textbooks or document cameras on the shelf.  The school LOGO was also painted on the front.  Total people involved = 23, total hours = 166.

  Placer Land Trust in Auburn - www.placerlandtrust.org/
      I constructed and erected a large kiosk on the side of the trail.  It displays conservation materials to educate the public and stands 12' tall and 8' wide - made of stained redwood.   Total people involved = 21, total hours = 220.

  Lomis Basin Charter School, 5438 Laird Rd., Loomis.
      I painted the lines for games onto the asphalt of the play area.  1. Wall Ball Court, 2. Wall Ball, 3. Four Square Court, and 4. Hop-scotch.  Each game area was 10 to 12 feet square.  Total people involved = 24, total hours = 124.

  Vencil Brown Elementary School, 250 Trestle Dr., Roseville.
      I refurbished two Play Sheds (8' x 10').  I installed new siding and trim, fixed the roofing and painted them.  Now these are safe to play house in.  Total people involved = 29, total hours = 287.

  Oakhills School, 9233 Twin Schools Road, Granite Bay.
      I made 12 Traffic Signs 3' tall for kindergarten kids to use with tricycles on the playground to understand their meaning.  The teachers can use them to teach the rules of the road so they will be safer.  Total people involved = 8, total hours = 115.

  Loomis Basin Charter School, 5438 Laird Rd., Loomis.
      I painted the US map (27' x 16') and an 8' x 8' chess board on asphalt playing ground.  The states aren't labeled so children can quiz themselves on state names and capitals.  The chess board is for use with large chess pieces.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 120.

  Sacramento Children's Receiving Home, 3555 Auburn Boulevard, Sacramento.
      I made 18 wood shelving units with 5 shelves (6' tall x 3' wide) to fill both sides of a 40' cargo unit, making it possible to store and organize toys and games.  Total people involved = 15, total hours = 110.

  Bayside Church, 8211 Sierra College Blvd., Granite Bay.
      I assembled a package kit of parts into a play set wooden boat 15' long by 9' wide.  This was built on an existing playground on a bark surface.  Total people involved = 18, total hours = 121.

• Jarrett M., Troop 11.
  Cirby Elementary School, 814 Darling Way, Roseville.
      I built 2 garden boxes (8' x 4') and filled them with garden soil.  The top of the box walls were capped with Trex boards to prevent children from getting splinters.  The boxes were also stained for looks and durability.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 155.

  Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay.
      I built a 8' x 3.5' paving bloocks walkway to replace small bricks on grass.  I also built a sprinkler box 69" long by 22" wide and 30" high to cover the exposed pipes and valves.  Total people involved = 10, total hours = 199.

• Vincent A., Troop 1.
  American Red Cross, 1151 Rand Way, Roseville.
      I prepared 500 First Aid Kits.  Each kit was in a 5" x 8" freezer zip lock bag and contained: A) 1 pair of medical gloves, B) 3 triple anti-bacterial ointment, C) 5 band aids, D) 1 large gauze pad.  Total people involved = 12, total hours = 175.

  Loomis Basin Horseman's Association, off Barton Rd, after Granite Hills Gated Comm. & before Santa Juanita Dr., Loomis.
      On Linda Creek Trail, I built ditch crossings (48' & 32' long) made of pipe, rock folded in landscape fabric, 3" deep decomposed granite and lodge poles.  During the winter the trail was impassable but now is useful.  Total people involved = 15, total hours = 212.

  Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 615 Vine Avenue, Roseville.
      I transformed a boring lawn area into an interesting and attractive area by inserting a "Stepping Stone Rosary".  Sod was cut out in the right places, weed barrier cloth installed and bender boards were installed.  Then  77 stepping stones were laid into the path and 3 cu yd of decomposed granite was spread out around the stones.  I also built a bench for the area and planted shrubs, flowers and a tree.  Total people involved = 43, total hours = 278.

  The Gathering Inn, Roseville.
  I divided a 20' x 20' room by building a standard inside wall.  That created a laundry room 20' x 7' that is separated from other activities.  The installed wall had a regular opening with a door that could be closed and an open window (48" x 34").  Total people involved = 30, total hours = 140.

• Thomas N., Crew 1830.
  Spenceville Wildlife Recreation Area, Wheatland, CA. 
      I removed about 150' of fallen wire and about 20 fence posts.  Then we hiked about 1/4 mile up the trail and removed another 350' of wire and 15 fence posts.  The wire coiled and piled into 10 large piles of wire and posts.  Now the area is cleaner and safer for grazing.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 132.

  Vencil Brown School, 250 Trestle Dr., Roseville.
      I raised over $800 to pay for the following.  I replaced an old sandbox 12' x 15' x 1'.  The sand had to be moved, then remove the old lumber and install the new sandbox and stained the wood and placed 6.6 cubic yds of sand in it.  I also installed a pool cover to keep in the mositure and keep the animals out.  Total people involved = 11, total hours = 198.

  Friendship Park, 1321 North C Street, Sacramento.
      I made two 10' long & 33" tall bike racks from wood and sealed them.  I also made a protective roof 8' long x 2' wide for a small compressor used to fill bike tires.   Total people involved = 25, total hours = 142.

• Daniel G., Troop 48.
  Maria Montessori Charter School, 1850 Wildcat Blvd., Rocklin.
      I constructed two 8' x 4' bridges with handrails to span drainage ditches and allow access to areas of the garden.  They were made of long lasting TREX Decking and pressure treated lumber.  Total people involved = 48, total hours = 90.

  Treelake Park, Granite Bay.
      I built a Rebound Wall for tennis and other games.  It was 20' wide and 8' tall with a sturdy back frame for support.  Total people involved = 14, total hours = 170.

• Cameron D., Troop 509.
  John Adams Academy, One Sierra Gateway, Roseville.
      I assembled over 200 large commercial tables and 20 audio/visual carts then stacked them and covered them with a tarp.  I also installed vinyl signs with quotes from our founding fathers in each classroom.  Total people involved = 98, total hours = 338.

  Placer Co. SPCA, 150 Corporation Yard Rd, Roseville.
      I built 80 cat scratching posts and also 30 cat adoption bags which included a picture frame, toys and treats.  Total people involved = 29, total hours = 170.

• Trevor F., Troop 11.
  Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall, 110 Park Drive, Roseville.
      I built a monument-style sign for the Veterans.  I used the idea of the old sign and incorporated some of it into a big (8' high, 16' long, 4' thick) rebar reinforced structure on a concrete footing.  It is built around a strong wood frame protected by a waterproof membrane and a layer of stucco and brick veneer.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 511.

  Sierra Elementary School, 6811 Camborne Way, Rocklin.
      I installed 56 metal flag supports for 7' x 15" banners all across the campus to advertise anything necessary.  I then installed 40 banners for  the International Baccalaureate Program on those brackets.  Total people involved = 10, total hours = 86.

  John Adams Academy, 1 Sierragate Plaza Roseville.
      I collected 1,000 books, 1/2 went into the library and 1/2 went into classrooms.  In the library I cataloged and sorted the books by author and shelved them in the empty bookshelves.  These are the first books to be cataloged for the new library.  Total people involved = 55, total hours = 198.

  Trout Unlimited Sac-Sierra Chapter, Folsom Nature Trail S. of Folsom Kids Play Park.
      I cut back the common Himalayan Blackberry 5'-8' feet from 200 yards of the trail on either side.  I also cleared Star Thistle (an invasive species) from an area the size of a football field to allow native grasses and shrubs to grow.  The brush cleared became a pile 6' high and stretched for 20 feet.  Total people involved = 39, total hours = 223.

• Bradley G., Troop 828.
  Roseville Elks Lodge # 2248, 3000 Brady Lane, Roseville.
      I collected 20 worn American Flags to retire and gave donors a new flag.  I held a car wash and collected $363 to pay for the new flags.  I also sent letters to local schools telling my story and encouraging respect for the flag with a video I made and posted on YouTube.  A retirement ceremony was held to retire all collected flags.   Total people involved = 27, total hours = 119.

  Martha Riley Community Library, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville.
      I trained 8 seniors for 5 days, 2 hours each day.  Each senior had their own personal assistant and the "Curriculum" which they could keep.   Total people involved = 28, total hours = 209.

• Greg M., Troop 828.
  Placer Co. SPCA, 150 Corporation Yard, Roseville.
      I designed and built 2 rolling shelving units, each with 2 rolling bins that fit under the bottom of 3 shelves.  The units  were 7' long and 5' high with each rolling bin 12" high and 3' long.  Laminate-coated, pre-finished wood was used so the result would be much stronger, last longer and be easier to maintain.  Total people involved = 13, total hours = 136.

• Brendan A., Troop 863.
  Trout Unlimited Sac-Sierra Chapter, Auburn River.
      I posted 7 signs (12" x 18" on posts) to inform people what to do to prevent spread of the  New Zealand Mud Snail.  We hiked at least 5 miles with cement and equipment to set the posts near the river at 6 sites which were at Lake Clementine, Ponderosa Bridge, Yankee Jim Bridge, and Iowa Road Bridge.  Total people involved = 18, total hours = 175.

• Zack E., Team 863.  
  Field Haven Feline Rescue, 2754 Ironwood Lane, Lincoln.
      I laid 104' cement curb around a cleaned out area and filled with a sand base.  Then a beautiful brick patio 22' x 30' was laid on the sand.  People who make donations can have ingraved bricks with their animal's name on it.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 183.

  LDS Church, 8583 Watt Ave., Antelope.
      I painted an open sided roofed structure 61' x 32'.  That included the underside of the roof as well as the posts and facia.  Total people involved = 36, total hours = 141.

  Roseville City Cemetery, 421 Berry Street, Roseville.
      I reconstructed a children's grave area.  Sod was removed, decomposed granite was laid, headstones were replaced neatly and a decorative stone border was added to a 22' x 16' area that contained 35 graves.   Total people involved = 34, total hours = 183.

  Union Cemetery, 9400 Watt Ave., Roseville.
      I power-washed and painted a 40' cargo container used for storage.  I also washed and cleaned 206 headstones, removed an old fence and built a privacy fence, and lastly we put mosquito polymer in flower cups.  Total people involved = 30, total hours = 105. 

• Parker Z., Troop 1820.
  Project Linus, 6808 Somerville Way, Fair Oaks.
      I made 122 fleece blankets.  52 were sewn on the edges and were for infants.  70 blankets had the edges cut and tied.  The sizes varied for use by toddlers and teenagers.  Total people involved = ?, total hours = 384.

  North Roseville Recreation Education & Creativity (R.E.C.) Center, 313 High St., Roseville.
      I built a 6' x 8' storage shed mounted on 4'' x 6'' skids for easy relocation.  Most materials used came from various donations using what was left over from other construction projects from businesses and individuals.  The shed will be used to store bikes, tools and other items that have been stolen in the past.  Total people involved = 25, total hours = 176.

• Devin M., Troop 48.
  Eskaton Retirement Home, 8550 Barton Rd., Granite Bay.
      I built 3 raised bed planter boxes.  They measured 2' high, 8' long and 3' wide and painted with redwood stain.  Then they were filled with planters mix soil.  I also made a 3' wide bark pathway for easy access.  Total people involved = 17, total hours = 140.

• Sam H., Troop 121.
  STAR Eco Station, 4465 Granite Drive, Rocklin.  (Env. Sci. Museum & Exotic Wildlife Rescue).
      I built 3 display cases (8' tall, with shelves, on wheels) to showcase for visitors the information and materials about endangered species , poaching and illegal hunting.  Total people involved = 25, total hours = 167.

  St. John's Shelter for Women and Children, 2243 Fair Oaks Blvd., #269, Sacramento.
      I designed and built a Speaker's Podium, a Drinks Station, and a set of 5' wall-mounted shelves.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 166.

• Colby M., Troop 121.
  Oakhills Elementary School, 9233 Twin Schools Rd., Granite Bay.
      I repainted 12 outdoor benches along a nature trail and cleaned up all the weeds and brush from 100 yards of that trail.  Total people involved = 32, total hours = 207.

  Cavitt Jr. High School, 7200 Fuller Drive, Granite Bay.
     "Periodic Table"...  I built a "hand crafted" steel picnic table with benches.  The top surfaces were covered with 140 tiles (6" x 6").  On each tile I placed an element symbol and atomic # before it was glazed.  I cleaned the area and then set the table in 3' holes full of concrete. Total people involved = 30, total hours = 258.

  Lutheran Church of the Resurection, 6365 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay.
      I designed and built a 2' high retaining wall 55' long partially around two sheds to keep the soil and gravel used to level the site from shifting.  Total people involved = 24, total hours = 108.

• Austin W., Crew 818. 
  Greenhills Elementary School, 8200 Greenhills Way, Granite Bay.
      I built and installed 18 shelves with hooks below for hanging coats and packs outside the classrooms.  The hooks were spaced only 1 foot apart so there are many available to the students.  This also created space in the classrooms.  The boards were painted to match the building trim.  Total people involved = 37, total hours = 143.

  Woodcreek Little League, 1545 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville.
      I planted 20 shrubs and three15-gal Redwood trees.  Over 100' of irrigation line was installed.  I also covered the area with 10 cu yd of bark for mulch and appearances.  Total people involved = 17, total hours = 108.

  John Adams Academy, 1 Sierragate Plaza, Roseville.
      I made 4 picnic tables (8' long) and painted them red.  Each table can seat 15 children and fits into the admosphere of the area.  Total people involved = 20, total hours = 143.

• Troy D., Troop 121.
  Campus Life Barn, 8845 Carriage Drive, Granite Bay.
      I built an large entertainment center (14' x 5.5') out of old recycled fence wood.  This filled a wall and housed 3 large TVs, and an audio/video control center.  I also constructed out of the old wood a coffee table and a chess table with inlaid chess design.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 197.

  Lutheran Church Of The Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay.
      I created a river rock path from the church to the grove where special events occur.  The trail is 100' long by 4' wide and includes 5 steps bordered by wood.  Total people involved = 22, total hours = 200.

  Olympus Junior High School, 2625 La Croix Dr., Roseville.
      I made a 16' x 24' shade structure for nursery plants used by 7th graders in their science curriculum.  The structure includes work tables where the students tent to their plants and can stay in the shade.  Total people involved = 19, total hours = 127.

  Warren T. Eich Middle School, 1509 Sierra Gardens Dr., Roseville.
      I made 3 "Lost & Found" open front boxes (5' x 4' x 2').  Hooks were added to the tall back to enable coats to be hung up.  I also renovated 750 sq ft garden area and added two 15 gal Oleander plants and six 1 gal plants.  I then repainted the School Sign with school colors.  Total people involved = 35, total hours = 184.

  St. Vincent De Paul, 503 Giuseppe Ct., Roseville.
      I pruned out old paper records, then reorganized the archives onto the several new shelves that I built to fit the area and their storage needs and the shelves they had.  The floor needed repairs to make the shelves stable.  I also repaired and painted walls.  Total people involved = 14, total hours = 259.

  St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 6201 Spruce Ave., Sacramento.
      I built a 880 sq ft brick patio using Holland Pavers.  Trees were in the middle of the patio and I built circular retaining walls around them and a garden.  To offset the $5000.00 needed for this job I raised $2000.00 in donations and with a car wash.  Total people involved = 66, total hours = 830.

  Twin Lakes Elementary School, 5515 Main Av., Orangeville.
      I obtained the money from the PTA, parents and my resources.  I created 10 games for the students built with wood so they will last a long time.  Food Fight, Ring Toss, Bowling, Hole in One, Three Strikes, Touch Down, Wheel of Doom, Pin the Tail on the Cougar, Coin Toss, and Beat the Principal (Soccer).  Total people involved = 13, total hours = 141.

  First Presbyterian Church, 515 Sunrise Avenue, Roseville.
      I built a media center to replace the old one.  It is an 8' x 8' raised platform to hold the operators in the corner of the room and cabinets and shelves are built on this platform to hold all the sound system and computer equipment.  Total people involved = 15, total hours = 121.

  Cirby Elementary School, 814 Darling Way, Roseville.
      I made 4 benches and 4 planter boxes (benches =5' long, planters each = 1 cu ft soil space).  They were made with wood and stained.  Planters were filled with soil and planted with flowers.  The 4th and 5th grades will enjoy these additions to their environment.  Total people involved = 26, total hours = 208.

• Peter S., Troop 828.  
  Blue Star Moms, 110 Park Drive, Roseville.
      I prepared 66 care packages to be sent to soldiers over-seas by Blue Star Moms organization.  Inside were food, hygiene products, entertainment items and a handwritten letter of encouragement from a Boy Scout to a soldier.  I raised the necessary $3,008.00 with fundraisers (recycle items & bottles) and cash donations.  Total people involved = 18, total hours = 165.

  St. Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville.
      I enlarged a 187' path from width of 3' to 4' to make it ADA compliant.  A composite border was installed along the sides to contain the path materials.  I also improved the 1500 sq ft area around the path with 5 cu yds bark mulch and 250 succulent plants.  Total people involved = 29, total hours = 234.

• Cody T., Team 803.
  North Roseville R.E.C., 313 High Street, Roseville.
      I Cleaned the garden area and refurbished planter boxes and the irrigation system fixed.  Made a gate for easy access for the delivery of goods to the food bank.  Covered the bottom of the 18' library trailer for safety and appearances.  Two benches were added along the basketball courts.  A larger hot water heater was also obtained for future use.  Total people involved = 24, total hours = 136.

• Patrick M., Troop 828.
  Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd.
      I made and donated 50 "no-sew" fleece blankets with a large variety of designs and colors.  Each patient receives a blanket to use and take home when discharged.  All materials were paid for with the $500 proceeds of car washes I organized.  Total people involved = 31, total hours = 285.

  The Gathering Inn, 201 Berkeley Ave., Roseville.
      I built a 70' planter box and filled it with crushed rock, a drain and fabric, ready for the Inn to finish filling and planting.  It created a barrier to flooding and the edge of the parking lot next to the walkway.  The parking lot had been raised also to prevent flooding and I worked with the contractor in planning to guarantee success.  Total people involved = 24, total hours = 133.

• Justin S., Troop 121.
  Granite Bay High School, 1 Grizzly Way, Granite Bay.
      In the GBHS Emerald Brigade's band room, there were hundreds of old trophies.  I took down all the trophies that were on the shelf that lined the top of the band room.  I sorted them by year and cleaned and put back those less than 6 years old.  The older ones I removed the plaques to mount on specially made display boards and recycled the old trophy parts to organizations who could use them.  I also painted the percussion room and built stand holders for the drum stands.  Total people involved = 37, total hours = 191.

  Eureka Elementary School, 5455 Eureka Rd., Granite Bay.
      I made 300 Grammophones and 10 wood racks to hold them all for easy and attractive storage where they can be quickly inventoried.  These are used in classes for speech and hearing impaired students.  $100 of donations paid for all the materials.  Total people involved = 20, total hours = 179.

  FieldHaven Feline Rescue, 2754 Ironwood Lane, Lincoln.
      I built 2 cat scratch posts, a bench and 2 shelves for each of 8 new outside visiting areas.  There are 4 rooms 8' x 80" and 4 rooms 8' x 32" with enough room for potential owners to sit down and visit.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 154.

  Cavitt Junior High School, 7200 Fuller Dr., Granite Bay.
      I improved the school's teaching areas.   Repaired and painted benches, and added a sliding cover to the chalkboard (part shown here) and cleaned up the nature area, about 1/2 acre.  Total people involved = 12, total hours = 123.

  Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center, 427 A St., Suite 400, Lincoln.
      I collected over a dozen used laptop computers to be donated to needy families.  The laptops had to be wiped of information and operating systems and software installed to make them useful.  The hardware also had to be investigated to verify everything was ok.  Total people involved = 13, total hours = 108 .

  Spenceville Wildlife Recreation Area, Wheatland, CA. 
       I made 5 trail signs (carved vinyl covering aluminum backing) which included the mileage to Fairy Falls.  Four required aluminum posts to be installed in concrete that hat to be carried in by foot up to 1.5 mi.  Total people involved = 12, total hours = 106.

  Eureka Elementary School, 5455 Eureka Rd., Granite Bay.
      I cleaned up the nature trail. I removed four 40 yd dumpsters of junk including 16 tons of concrete, old trees, washers, dryers, freezers and air conditioners  .  Total people involved = 56, total hours = 235.

  Placer Co. SPCA, on Grass Valley Highway, Auburn.
      Three complicated cat trees were built for the display room and many cats to play on at the same time.  They were 6' high, 4' wide and 2' deep with multiple levels, sleeping and perching and batting-toy areas.  All materials were paid for by proceeds from a yard sale selling stuff people donated for this purpose.  Total people involved = 21, total hours = 147.

  Roseville High School, 1 Tiger Way, Roseville.
      I landscaped near the Art Wing more than 1/3 acre (part shown here), fixing many and replacing 10 sprinklers.  I also built a 20' long 2-tiered retaining wall.  Total people involved = 45, total hours = 165.

  Maidu Elementary School, 1950 Johnson Ranch Drive, Roseville.
  I demolished (one built with plywood) and rebuilt (with 2" x 12" doug fir) a Wall Ball Wall 18' wide by 8.5' tall.  I also primed and painted everything.  Total people involved = 31, total hours = 197.

  Sutter Roseville Hospital, 1 Medical Plaza Dr.
      I greatly improved the Pediatrics Playroom by adding a new bookshelf (5' tall x 3' wide) plus over 100 items including toys, crafts supplies and DVDs.  I also made a 7' long WELCOME sign made up of 21 individually hand painted letters.  Total people involved = 60, total hours = 191.

  I built 1 30' chain link fence around 3 air conditioning units including a gate.  Total people involved = 26, total hours = 184.

  I cleaned 2 large niches.  I also added gel granules for mosquito control to about 8000 flower containers.  I also planted 21 1-gal drought resistant plants at the entrance.  Total people involved = 32, total hours = 103.

  Placer Co. SPCA, 150 Corp. Yard Rd., Roseville
  I raised $350 to buy "Fence Fabric" from United Services.  This was attached to and stretched over a chain link fence 40 ft long to create a private area.  To get access to the fence I had to remove a huge blackberry bush.  Total people involved = 24, total hours = 157.

  St. Vincent De Paul Society Family Shelter, 317 B St., Roseville.
      I created a beautiful garden area 11' x 45' out of an ugly area beside the building.  Paving stones and crushed rock surround a raised bed 4' x 12' garden area.  Total people involved =  7, total hours = 204.

  Placer Nature Center, 3700 Christian Valley Road, Auburn.
      I made 10 bat boxes, 10 bird houses (2 each of 5 different models), and 5 trail signs.  I mounted 2 bat boxes and the rest will be sold or mounted later when they migrate and vacate delapidated ones.  Four signs were attached to posts.  Total people involved = 44, total hours = 230.

  Sutter Roseville Hospital, 1 Medical Plaza Dr., Roseville.
  I constructed 2 metal frame picnic tables with recycled (TREX) plastic boards.  Each table cost $500 to build.  I also made a trash can holder out of the plastic boards.  I earned $900 to pay for the materials by holding two carwash functions.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 298.

  W.T. Eich Middle School, 1509 Sierra Gardens Dr., Roseville.
      I raised $212.10 with a car wash to buy plants that I planted (12 boxwoods, 12 flats Gazanias, 16 Blue Fesuces) in front of the school.  Cedar mulch was also applied to the areas.  I then trimed oleanders in the front.  Total people involved = 31, total hours = 226.

  W.T. Eich Middle School, 1509 Sierra Gardens Dr., Roseville.
      I landscaped an area, creating a drainage creek and planting 71 plants over a 1000 sq ft area.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 184.

      I landscaped the area (1064 sq. ft. in many odd shaped sections).  Old plants had to be removed and new ones planted.  Landscaping fabric was added and 6 cu. yds. of bark were used to mulch the areas.  Total people involved = 34, total hours = 205.

  Adelante High School, 350 Atlantic St., Roseville.
      I created a more accessable and safe area for the students and staff to use.  I installed a 5' long retaining wall with RxR ties.  I also cleaned up the 50 yd. trail.  Total people involved = 21, total hours = 121.

• Daniel F., Team 292.
  Roseville Cemetery, 421 Berry Street, Roseville.
      I filled about 5,000 flower cup holders with moisture holding granules  The granules will provide a moisture medium the flowers can use without providing water for mosquito breeding.   I also painted 900' of wrought iron fence in the front of the property.  Total people involved = 57, total hours = 130.

  Sierra Gardens Elementary School, 711 Oakridge Dr., Roseville.
      I replaced their old lost and found box with a new one 4.5' x 4.5'.  I reconditioned the garden for a new season and refurbished 3 planter boxes 5' x 3'.  I also repaired and repainted the lunch benches.  I also repainted the map on the playground so the students can learn the states without difficulty.  I also repainted a low long wall to brighten it and get rid of marks.  Total people involved = 47, total hours = 149.

  Trout Unlimited, Six sites in the Upper reaches of the American River.
      I built and installed a total of ten 4' high signs to inform the public of the of the dangers of the spread of the New Zealand Mudsnail which hasn't invaded above Nimbus dam yet.  Total people involved = 22, total hours = 227.

  Roseville Home Start, 410 Riverside Ave., Roseville.
      I replaced 40 shelves in 10 housing units.  Hall closet shelves were replaced where needed, and repainted those ok.  Installed 10 large bedroom closet shelves (1 in each unit) where none existed before.  Total people involved = 20, total hours = 118.

      I lined a trench with 2 cu. yd. of cement and 261 sq. ft. of large river rock so water would run smoothly and beautify the area.  Total people involved = 26, total hours = 99.

  Veteran's Park N., and Greenbelt between Veteran's Park S. and Blue Oaks Park, Roseville.
      I created 2 cement areas (5' x 8') and installed metal benches in the center of each  for walkers, runners and the public that use the walkways.  Total people involved = 27, total hours = 229.

• Chad S., Troop 818.
  Humbug Trail, Folsom.
      I improved the safety and looks of the Humbug Trail near Folsom Lake by cleaning the areas and laying down decomposed granite (compressed with equipment).  This will increase the number of people using the trail and keeping off the nearby road.  Total people involved = 25, total hours = 112.

  Sargeant Elementary in Lincoln, Babcock Elementary and Twelve Bridges Elementary Schools in Sacramento.
      I built 955 Whisper Phones (commercial ones cost at least $10 each) for the 3 schools.  Materials were purchased with money raised ($1,072.13) washing cars and recycling and donations.  Total people involved = 29, total hours = 319.

  Home Start Inc., Roseville
       I obtained over $800 to pay for the materials.  I then built 4 shelving units to hold supplies.  Two = 3' high & 4' wide; two = 6' high & 3' wide.  After delivering the shelves we stocked the shelves and organized the materials.  We then cleaned patio furniture and swept the site.  Total people involved = 20, total hours = 222.

  Sterling Pointe Trail, Folsom Lake.
      I leveled a 12 ft square on a slope and installing supporting walls upslope and down slope.  I also installed a picnic table and information sign about the area.  This created a comfortable and beautiflul place for a picnic or rest while hiking on the trail.  Total people involved = 11, total hours = 106.

  The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay.
      I built a 4' high x 60' long cyclone fence including a gate around air conditioning  units to prevent accidents and damage.  I removed and replanted one bush and cleaned up, then added bark inside and outside the fence to beautify the area.  Total people involved = 35, total hours = 178.

      I collected over 1500 magazines and 274 books for the patients.  I also made 150 cough pillows with donated materials.  Total people involved = 36, total hours = 141.

      I painted 600 yds of trim  and fencing around 3 buildings.  I also replaced the bark on the ground for two playgrounds.  Total people involved = 36, total hours = 153.

  Kaiser Hospital, 1600 Eureka Rd, Roseville.
      I made 55 double ply fleece blankets for the patients and took their collection of odd art materials, added some necessary parts and created 345 art kits for the children.  These kits vary from card making packets to a kit for creating a short comic book.  Total people involved = 27, total hours = 219.

      I installed 180 ' of fencing to split one big area in two.  I also installed another division with a gate for a walkway.  5000 lbs cememt and 90 posts were used.  Total people involved = 12, total hours = 214.

  Athletics Programs (Special Olympics) of Aim Higher.
      I built and painted a 10' x 10' shed on a 6" x 6" concrete foundation.  Total people involved = 27, total hours = 449.

      I built a 7' tall kiosk (3' wide and 2' thick) with 2 sides holding a map of the school and a bulletin board for announcements, etc.  Total people involved = 20, total hours = 266.

  Ridgeview Elementary School, 9177 Twin Schools Rd., Granite Bay.
      I restored a 1,000 sq. ft. Butterfly Garden.  I added 49 ' of fencing, 4 cu yd of ground cover, and 24 new plants.  Total people involved = 29, total hours = 267.

      I replaced 800 sq ft of decking and then cleaned and stained 4000 sq ft the walkway decking around permanent classroms.  Total people involved = 19, total hours = 216.

  Maidu Museum and Historic Site, 1960 Johnson Ranch Dr., Roseville.
      I relocated four storage sheds from the old museum building to the new facility.  I also prepared the site and installed concrete pavers for the shed platforms and a path to them.  Total people involved = 36, total hours = 158.

  Crestmont Elementary School, 1501 Sheridan Ave., Roseville.
       I repaired and refinished and painted many elements of Crestmont's playground that were worn out: ball walls, basketball courts, fire hydrants, and playground poles.  I also repaired the kickball backstop and put new chain linking on it.  Finally I sandblasted away the graffiti on the retaining wall.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 140.

  Homeward Bound, 7495 Natomas Rd., Elverta CA.
      I built a fence (441' long) around a large area for dogs and horses to rest and play.  This extended down 2' into the ground to prevent digging out.  It was made with heavy wire fencing held up by 60 posts cemented into the ground.  Total people involved = 43, total hours = 179.

  Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, 9400 Horseshoe Bar Rd., Loomis.
      I built 10 owl nesting boxes (weather-proofed and stained).  This will attract owls to the area and reduce their rodent problem.  Total people involved = 16, total hours = 142.

  Cavitt Junior High School, 7200 Fuller Dr., Granite Bay.
      I built a screened enclosure to secure 2 tortoises overnight (21' x 11' x 8' high).  I also added a sprinkler system to keep the plants alive and repaired the current enclosure gate.  Total people involved = 13, total hours = 150.

  Granite Bay County property.
      I re-cleared 1/2 mile long trail on Barton Road, taking out enough to fill a 9 yard dumpster.  The trail is the missing link in a series of trails that connect the Granite Bay area with the Folsom Lake Recreational Area.  Total people involved = 25, total hours = 189.

  Sutter Roseville Hospital, 1 Medical Plaza Dr, Roseville.
      I welded together 5 original benchs 6' long and attached the wood seats.  Four were installed with cement and one kept as a spare.  Total people involved = 9, total hours = 137.

  Lyman Leak Memorial Center, 1203 Gabrielle Dr., Roseville.
      I transformed an unsightly 98' x 29' space into a recreational area suitable for picnics, celebrations, speeches, etc.  I installed landscaping, drainage rock and a solid surface of decomposed granite.  Total people involved = 13, total hours = 139.

      I built raised planter beds in the shape of the school letters "AHS", each letter is 12' x 16' giving them 136 sq ft of planting area.    Total people involved = 19, total hours = 135.

  Willow Creek, Prewett Drive, Folsom and Sac-Sierra Trout Unlimited.
       Cleanup of 3/4 mile of the creek resulted in 75 garbage bags (55-gal) filled with blackberry cut shrubs.  I also installed 3 signs labeling "Willow Creek".  Total people involved = 32, total hours = 133.

      I installed retaining walls extending a pre-existing wall for erosion control and directing traffic.  I also created a path around the dumpster with 6 inlaid steps to make that path easier. Total people involved = 19, total hours = 144.

      I made 2 gravel platforms (barrier walls filled with 9 yds of gravel - 5.5" deep) for picnic tables.  I also reconditioned the tables by replacing broken boards and re-staining them.  Total people involved = 26, total hours = 145.

      I painted half of the rooms of the inside of the building: 8 classrooms, kitchen, baptismal font, and the large Scout room with tall ceilings.  Total people involved = 34, total hours = 243.

  Pioneer Memorial, Roseville Cemetery, 421 Berry St., Roseville.
      I cleaned off the rust and repainted the 49 post rod iron fence and signs around the memorial grounds surrounding the graves of our pioneers.  I used over 100 cans of rubberized spray paint.  Total people involved = 23, total hours = 257.

  Roseville Lion's Club, 107 Sutter Road, Roseville.
      I installed aocustical panels on the ceiling of two large rooms to reduce the echos during presentations and events held there.  Due to lighting hardware the tiles were separated by 4' thereby covering only about 50% of the area, but that still significantly reduced the echoes.  Total people involved = 30, total hours = 190.

  Peace for Families Women and Children's Shelter, Auburn.
      I cleaned up two areas (270' x 5' and 20' x 5') and planted 12 trees and 44 shrubs.  I also installed drip systems and covered the area with wook chips.  Total people involved = 36, total hours = 282.

      I organized the preparation and painting of 14 rooms.  Total people involved = 27, total hours = 140.

      I made 107 cat scratching posts covered with carpet that fit in their cages and go with them to their new home.  17.5" tall, 2" x 4" post and a 16" triangular base.

      I assembled and painted 2 raised planter bed kits which matched what they already had, and filled them with planting media ready to use.  I also directed the clean up of weeds and trash where needed on the property.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 142.

  Christian Life Academy, 1301 Coloma Way, Roseville.
      I installed a 25 foot high flagpole that waves a 4' x 6' flag.  This required city permits which I had to get approved and the base is anchored by many bags of concrete deep in the ground.  Total people involved = 28, total hours = 182.

  St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen, 503 Guiseppe Ct., Roseville.
      I created a total of 36 sq ft of shelving 15" deep and a total of 16 feet long with 4 levels along the walls of their storage room.  Some drywall had to be installed first also plus painting the walls.  All this enabled them to pass FDA approval.  Total people involved = 14, total hours = 163.

  Greenhills School, 8200 Greenhills Way, Granite Bay.
      I installed 145 coat hooks (12" apart) and support boards of various lengths around the school and also installed a 12" shelf above all boards for lunch boxes.  The boards were painted to match the rest of the trim and the students for the first time didn't have wet coats and backpacks during the winter because of them lying on wet sidewalks, even though they were under the sidewalk roofs.  Total people involved = 39, total hours = 172.

      I planted and installed irrigation drip systems for 60 oak trees.  Nine native Blue Oaks were planted in the driest part and 51 native Valley Oaks were planted around the rest of the area.  Total people involved = 34, total hours = 147.

      I built two custom hand painted 4' sq carnival-style game toss boards.  They were sturdy and each had 4 '" holes to throw balls or bean bags at.  Now they don't have borrow them from another school.  Total people involved = 11, total hours = 143.

      I painted two 25 x 35 ft. maps (World and US) on the playground blacktop.  Countries or states were painted with various colors (red, blue, yellow, green, teal blue, tan and white.  Total people involved = 40, total hours = 305.

  Peace for Families (a non profit place for battered women and children).
      I made 6 shelf units (3' wide x 6' tall with 10 shelves) to help organize storytelling props families use to tell stories with.  Total people involved = 15, total hours = 101.

  LDS Church youth in Roseville.
      I rebuilt and refurbished 9 handcarts (4' x 6' on 4' metal wheels) used for re-enacting the Pioneer Trek Out West.  Total people involved = 40, total hours = 225.

  Vencil Brown Elementary School, 250 Trestle Dr., Roseville.
      I repainted 2 Wall Ball walls and 172 paw prints and arrows around a track.  I also repaired tricycles and laid new linoleum in 2 playhouses and painted the inside of one playhouse.  Total people involved = 60, total hours = 154.

  Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento.
      I assembled 200 Hygiene Kits with 10 items each and 100 Relief Bags (each a unique color and pattern) were made for the children.  The bags were handmade and large enough so the children could carry all their belongings when they leave to go to a new home.  Total people involved = 30, total hours = 267.

      I improved parking by painting 31 concrete wheel stops.  That included removing and replacing 3 damaged ones.  I also power washed two parking lots each containing 40 car spaces.  Total people involved = 22, total hours = 127.

      I enhanced the use of space by placing over 600 paving stones in a driveway area after preparing the spot by relocating plants to other landscaped sections leveling the soil and adding gravel for the base of the pavers.  I also cleared 3,000 sq ft area of underbrush and trimmed back trees to create a larger and safer environment near the picnic benches and BBQ.  Total people involved = 36, total hours = 213.
