Allan Yuzuru Yamashiro

Now Iron Horse District Chair, Allan has spent his 10 years in Scouting as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Member and Chairman, Venture Committee Chairman, Roundtable Staff, and Merit Badge Counselor.  He has also worked as Camporee Committee Member and Chair, Friends of Camp Pollock, and staffed Webelos Woods, Mountain Man Rendezvous, Scouting for Food, Klondike Derby, Scout Expo, and a Philmont Trek.  Allan’s expertise has led him to 10 years of volunteer service as a consultant pharmacist for CommuniCare Health Centers, a nonprofit organization that provides health care to 20,000 medically underserved adults and children in Yolo County, and appointment as member of the Board of Directors of Partnership Healthplans of California.  He also worked on staff of the Del Oro High School music competition.

Allan feels that Scouting has given him the opportunity to spend time with people who share the same Scouting values, and have a fun time too! 

 

For his best Scouting Experience:
I remember sitting atop of the Tooth of Time at Philmont with my Crew watching a brilliant display of lightening emanating from darkened clouds sweeping  across the eastern New Mexico plain.  Far below, we see Base camp where buildings look like landmarks on a map.    I have had many great experiences in Scouting, but the Philmont trek has got to be the best.
