GEC = our Council.  The National MBC form is not acceptable.

 Each MB counselor must complete all of the following

Including # 2, which many forget: 

 

1. Youth Protection Training must have been taken it within the last 2 years.
        a.  If you are already BSA registered in another position and up to date, skip to #2  
        b.  If you are already BSA registered, but not taken this training you must do so before you can become a Merit Badge Counselor.
        c.  If you are not BSA registered, you still need to do this training, just sign in to My BSA and print out a Certificate of Completion to hand in wih your applications.
                    ****You will need to create an account for yourself and when you get your ID# go back and add it to your account.********
2. A BSA Adult Volunteer Application (position = MBC) in addition even if someone is registered in another position in the unit.
   
3. An application to counsel Merit Badges. 
    

The following conditions must be met. 

 

1. Youth Protection must be up to date.  Do so at  My BSA. 
2. You will need to create an account for yourself.
3. Apply your BSA  ID#  to your training account.  This links that account to GEC records.
4. New Adult Volunteer Application must be used because it requires a Social Security Number. This form has a red framed box around red text on the cover .
5. Position code = 42, or MBC.
6. Position Description = Merit Badge Counselor.
7. Three references must be listed in lower left corner of application.
8. No signatures other than your own are required before it is turned in to Terry.

When I have all the required information I will approve your MBC application and you will be added to the MBC list and in the downloadable database which id on the web.   Ask me for the access codes to access it.

 

NOTICE: ...Do not send Scouts to counselors who have not been approved.
