DE's corner

Hello all,

Welcome to the beginning of another exciting year of Scouting!! We are about to begin the 2008-2009 program year and I hope you are all as anxious as I am to get it started. For the first time in a few years, we are going to be having a Program Preview. You should all walk away from the evening with more information and contacts than you know what to do with. I hope you will all be pleased with the positive changes our Scouting District will be undergoing.
As some of you may have heard, I just returned home from the National Leadership Training Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. All I can say is WOW!!! Just imagine, every professional Scouter in the country (over 5,000 of us), gathering under one roof, networking together to help improve the quality of program in every Scouting unit in the country. The main theme for the whole conference was the upcoming 100th Anniversary for the Boy Scouts of America. We learned about all the great programs coming out over the next two years that will lead up to the grand celebration that is to be expected in 2010 for our centennial celebration. The major theme for 2010 is “Our Future is Now”. We do not know what the future of Scouting will look like 100 years from now but we do know that what we do for Scouting today will affect the next 100 years. The future of Scouting begins today. Our top leaders at the national office have created partnerships with several major corporations and organizations; AT&T, NBC, ABC, Major League Baseball, National Football League, and General Motors, just name a few. Keep your eyes peeled while watching television of reading your favorite newspaper or magazine. You may be surprised with what you find in the mass media.
This next year of program will be a fun filled adventure. I am looking forward to ensuring that every boy in our Scouting District has the opportunity to experience this great program that we all are apart of.

Scouting works best when we all work together!!!

Yours in Scouting,
Brad Wilson
