    Cisco's Eagle Project was making 250 health kits for the Lutheran World Relief organization to distribute overseas.

    Jarrod's Eagle Project was making a 150 foot path from one church building to another using decomposed granite and broken chunks of concrete at the 1st Baptist Church of Rocklin.

    Ben's Eagle Project was changing, fixing and repairing over a hundred sprinkler heads at Penryn Park. Part of the challenge was to prevent gophers from damaging the new sprinklers. Bricks were put down underneath each sprinkler head.

    Richard's Eagle Project was building a shelter for feral cats as a holding pen before they were neutered, treated and released for the FieldHaven Cat Rescue Center in Lincoln.

    Michael's Eagle Project put in a 9 hole disc golf course at the H. Clarke Powers Elementary School in Loomis. Because of the high cost with installing the pre-made equipment, he also found nine sponsors that donated $500.00 each with metal signs declaring their sponsorship of each hole.

    For his Eagle Project, Brad built and installed two information kiosks at trailheads on the Granite Bay side of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area; these provide a central place for visitors to the park trails to find information about the park and its history.

    The project involved building a 5 foot high by 100 foot chain link fence to enclose and protect a new garden area at the Parker Whitney Elementary School.

    Scott planned and constructed a 10 by 12 foot freestanding shade structure to provide shade for kids in the Grow Pro garden area of the Antelope Creek Elementary School.

    Alex designed and constructed a 12' by 13' wooden deck attached to the recently opened Rocklin City Museum.

    Jared's Eagle Project involved collection of Button Willow starters in July 2000; tending these cuttings; then planting some 350 established saplings in Feb, 2001 to provide habitat for fish in Folsom Lake.

    Maidu Interpretative Center, Roseville.
    I built three benches (original design) for resting spots along the 1/2 mile walk. Total people involved = 15 , total hours = 106.

    Placer County Peer Court System.
    I taught a group of eight scouts and friends how to create websites from from start to finish. I taught them by supervising them to build the comprehensive website for Placer County Peer Court (http://www.peercourt.com). This included lessons, group meetings, and brainstorming sessions.

    I built a 3 ft. high, 400 ft. long wooden split-rail fence around a planter area to protect it. Total people involved = 42, total hours = 133.

    We painted the front 4' fence 100 yards long in 5 different colors. We also painted two 9' sign boards in front. Last, we painted one wall of cabinets inside the Art Center. Total people involved = 18, total hours = 141.

    First Presbyterian Church, 515 Sunrise Ave., Roseville
    I painted about 800 sq. Ft. walls in a large multipurpose room and gym. I also used Ecolab chemicals to thoroughly clean the kitchen. Total people involved = 16, total hours = 129.

    Saddle Pals Therapeutic Center, 7035 Walnut Ave., Orangevale.
    I made major repairs to 3 barns (12' by 10') and painted 4. Each barn holds two horses and had dry rot and lots of damage created by the horses. Total people involved = 22, total hours = 98.

    LDS Humanitarian Center in Salt Lake City.
    I made 40 school kits and 40 hygiene kits that consisted of more than 7 types of supplies in each kit, all of which I asked to be donated. This included purchased items of 80 combs, soap, toothbrushes and sewing kits. Hand made items included sewn bags with a drawstring to hold everything. After I received everything I supervised a group to put them together. I then delivered in person the kits to the LDS Humanitarian Center in Salt Lake City. All kits will be sent to an underprivileged country. Total people involved = 23, total hours = 131.

    West Roseville near Junction and Foothill.
    Working with the City of Roseville Streets Department, I painted the warning "No Dumping, Flows to Creeks" legend adjacent to 95 storm drains. Total people involved = 10, total hours = 95.

    Kaiser Permanente, Sierra Gardens, Roseville and
    I held a book drive and collected books and calendars that were wrapped as Christmas presents to be given to 137 patients, particularly children and the elderly who were stuck in the hospital during the Christmas holiday. Total people involved = 33, total hours = 129.

    Antelope Creek Elementary School.
    Cleaned and stained their garden boxes. We painted a storage shed and we made 10 garden signs, one for each garden box. A larger sign was also made for the whole garden. Total people involved = 23, total hours = 72.

    Victorian house across from Rocklin City Hall that will be the future home of the Rocklin History Museum.
    We helped restore this building by removing the floor coverings for preparation of new flooring. We also moved soil in preparation of the construction of a wheel chair access ramp and removed damaged dry wall to ease the repair done by contractors that will come later.     3 rd. Street Pre School, Rocklin.
    I built 5 small preschool sized picnic tables. Total people involved = 22, total hours = 116.

    Placer Co. SPCA, 150 Corporation Yard, Roseville.
    I sanded repaired and refinished the benches. I repaired the walls in the feral cat room and painted the walls. Since some outside work could not be done, we washed over 20 dogs to help the volunteers. Total people involved = 34, total hours = 102.

    Oakhills Elementary School, 9233 Twin School Road, Granite Bay.
    I built a fence across the back end of the school: 3 ft. tall, 40 ft. long in 10 separate removable sections. Another 4 ft. high permanent posts with removable 8 ft. sections. It is 84 ft. long with an arbor for an entrance. Total people involved = 18, total hours = 200.

  • Brandon D. , Troop 1.
    St. Albans Country Day School, 2312 Vernon St., Roseville.
    I prepared the ground and installed a path that bends around a pond used for many science projects. The path is about 140 feet long and 4" deep. I filled the path with "smooth pea" gravel. There are two low spots so I installed PVC pipe to help drain those areas. Total people involved = 24, total hours = 231.

    Dry Creek running through Misty Wood, Roseville.
    Beavers were eating the trees and knocking them into the creek . To protect the trees, I wrapped chicken wire around the trunks of 247 trees. Total people involved = 15, total hours = 124.

    McBean Park Pavilion, Lincoln.
    We cut down eleven eucalyptus trees down and gave the firewood to needy families. They were about 4 feet in diameter and were starting to become dangerous for people. Total people involved = 29, total hours = 189.

    1st. Street Cemetery, Lincoln.
    I poured 18 cement bases (3' X 3' square) for trash cans to sit on. This improved appearances and functionality of the areas. Total people involved = 23, total hours = 129.

    LDS Humanitarian Center, Salt Lake
    I made 200 hygiene kits. Each kit included: 2 unbreakable combs, 2 toothbrushes, 1 tube of toothpaste, 1 regular bar of soap, 4 travel size shampoo or 1 8 oz. container of shampoo, 1 hand trowel, 1 sewing kit, and 1 one-gal. plastic bag. These kits were distributed world wide by the LDS Center to people in need.

    Antelope Elementary School, 6185 Sierra View Drive, Antelope.
    I helped beautify the garden with non-mare signs. I also installed a 7' "peace pole" in the middle of the garden. I also built a fence along one side of the garden. Total people involved = 12, total hours = 61.
  • Michael G., Troop 349.
    5070 Plumbago Place, Rocklin.
    I designed and built a bird aviary 7 ft. tall with two rooms (4' X 6' & 8' S 6'). Underneath the aviary is pea gravel that is used as drainage, a sturdy foundation and leveling the surface. The person needed an aviary to be an efficient rehabber and reduce trauma to the wildlife. The aviary is now the property of Department of Fish and Game. Total people involved = 10, total hours = 91.

    Mariposa Elementary School, 7940 Mariposa Ave., Citrus Heights.
    I laid two 92" x 92" cement foundation slabs to hold the installation of two metal picnic tables that we had to assemble and anchor into the cement. Total people involved = 18, total hours = 145.

    Dick Cook Rd., Loomis.
    I organized the troop to make 143 nest cones made from hardware cloth. The nest cones are for nesting of Mourning Doves in trees. They were attached to the solid tree branches of about 100 trees 6' to 18' above ground to avoid predators. Total people involved = 54, total hours = 148.

  • Jesse P., Troop 45
    Benefited children of Swaziland, Africa.
    I had my community help me put together 1000 education kits to go to the children in Swaziland, Africa. We made bags and put note books, pencils, chalkboards, erasers, rulers and pencil sharpeners in them. I also taught our local school children about Swaziland and they wrote letters of inspiration to put in each kit. I also met with the Swaziland delegate, Mr. Joel Nahleko and was given the title "Honorary Ambassador to Swaziland". Total people involved = 98, total hours = 604.

    McBean Park, Hwy. 193, Lincoln.
    Our community six months ago built a "Leathers" wooden playground apparatus. I provided the first cleanup and sanding, maintenance, and coating with 55 gallons of linseed oil which has to be done every year.

    Folsom City Zoo, Folsom.
    I built an awning (redwood frame covered with canvass) for a bear cage for shade and rain protection. The roof was 22 feet by 12 feet in area with a 3 percent slope. Total people involved = 8, total hours = 83.

    Cobblestone Elementary School, Rocklin
    I painted the important "3 point" lines on eight basketball courts to make the game more interesting and more educational for the students. I also put up seven new nets on the rims. Total people involved = 13, total hours = 52.

    Folsom Lake State Park
    I built two kiosks, one at either end of a mountain bike / horseback riding trail from Granite Bay Entrance to Doton's Point. Each kiosk includes a roof and a 30" by 36" display case to show maps and information to the riders. Total people involved = 12, total hours = 172.

    Orangevale Community Park, Orangevale.
    I replaced broken boards, painted the fence and gates of this 7500 sq. ft. horse enclosure. I also eliminated standing water by moving soil into the low areas and fixed the drainage. Total people involved = 29, total hours = 210.

    Franklin Elementary School, 4380 Laird Road, Loomis.
    I completely dug out and re-formed the long jump pit at the school. I put in wood lining, filled it with sand, and added a runway for the pit. Total people involved = 19, total hours = 108.

    Mariposa Elementary School, 7940 Mariposa, Citrus Heights.
    First we had to dig out and rip out many old rose bushes. We then dug a trench in front of the entire school, including under two walkways. We then installed a sprinkler system. We also scraped the paint off posts and then repainted them. Total people involved = 37, total hours = 144.

    I constructed seven planter boxes in the kindergarten area. A sprinkler system and soil was also added ready to be used. Total people involved = 15, total hours = 126.

    Granite Bay Montessori School, 9330 Sierra College Blvd., Granite Bay
    I built four 6x24 foot raised garden beds. I also installed underground irrigation pipes from the water source to the hose you can see in the background. Total people involved = 18, total hours = 165.

    Cavitt Junior High School, 7200 Fuller Dr., Granite Bay.
    I repaired and repainted 13 benches around the quad area. I also assembled 7 metal tables for the cafeteria. Total people involved = 20, total hours = 101.

    Granite Bay High School, #1 Grizzly Way, Granite Bay.
    I built a 6 foot square concrete planter box that covers a previously dirty and exposed section of the nice covered patio area. It also serves as additional seating during lunch when the area is overcrowded. The edges are beveled to made the box more attractive and more comfortable. The tree I planted in it is a Japanese Maple. Total people involved = 28, total hours = 155.

    A conservation project to preserve vernal pools and keep drainage clear of debris, waste, and any garbage from the public within the area and perimeter of the land, ponds and small creeks. Over 350 pounds of waste and debris was collected in one day. Total people involved = 30, total hours = 98.

    We created 25 visual-aid packets for teaching children in the mission school. The packets consisted of cut out and laminated pictures of people, animals, nature, buildings, food, etc. Total people involved = 57, total hours = 287.
