Trained leaders provide a quality, fun-filled program for troops. When leaders understand Boy Scouting, they are more effective in their roles.

 

Youth Protection:
New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins. Youth Protection Training must be completed every two years to remain current. www.myscouting.org 

Boy Scout Leader Fast Start:

For all registered adults. A on-line course for new leaders, committee members and interested parents.

Boy Scout Leader fast start is a prerequisite for the Scoutmastership Fundamentals course. Designed to give an overview of successful troop operations. www.myscouting.org  

 

 This is Scouting:

This Is Scouting is a new online training session that replaces New Leader Essentials. It picks up where Fast Start leaves off with six modules of training:

1)The Mission of Scouting                  2) Programs for All ages                  3)Scouting Is Fun

4) Scouting in the Community            5) Keeping Our Youth Safe               6)Scouting’s Legacy

The training takes about an hour to complete and can be found at www.myscouting.org. (If you are new to Scouting, you will be asked to create an account.)

Roundtable:
Share program ideas, gain valuable training, designed to support all levels of troop leadership. Supplemental training is provided each month on the third Thurs. of each month (except Jul and Dec) Join in the fun and fellowship while learning about the upcoming month's program.

Scout Woodbadge:
Advanced training for Boy Scout Leaders. This experience involves eight days and seven nights. It can also be offered on three weekends. Participation is for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and others directly in support of troop operation.
Merit Badge Counselor Orientation:
For new Merit Badge Counselors.
 
National Volunteer Training Center Conferences:
Held at Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimmaron, New Mexico. Contact District Executive for information.

High Adventure:
This team offers a series of programs for Scouters in specific areas, Back Pack Awareness, Cold Weather Training, Advanced Trek Planning and Basic Paddle Sports. Contact person: District Executive, District Training Chair, High Adventure Team Member.
