The Merit Badge Pow Wow is described in detail, defined as a District or Council event designed to provide Scouts with an opportunity to meet merit badge counselors and work on merit badges during the "off season" and in a centralized environment (similar to summer camp) (39 pages).

"A Guide for Patrol Parents in Troops."
This post-graduate study reviews 50-years of changing parent roles in troops and develops and presents a guidebook for new parents. The roles of "coach," "coordinator," and contact person" are defined.
Lazzarini, Kenneth S., 1998,
"An Intra-Youth Organizational Approach to BSA Recruitment Through Cooperative Advertising Programs."
A program of joint advertising strategy is outlined in this thesis. Possible partners include Little League Baseball, Incorporated, and Girl Scouting. Suitable media include use of billboards that feature complementary uniformed youth citing advantages of each other's program.

This paper develops a worksheet for use by Unit Commissioners after their visits to Unit Committee meetings. Criteria and standards are suggested, and sample worksheet is illustrated (39 pages).

"Development of an Internet Web Presence for the Buena Vista District."
A future need for information distributed via the Internet involving the business of the Buena Vista District is a reality. A computer for the Web Site was found and an account acquired. A Web Page was designed and "published" on the world wide web (60 pages).

This thesis chronicles the multi-year evolution of the revamping of Buena Vista District's forms and process, some of which have now been adopted council-wide. Specific recommendations are made to improve the recharter process (21 pages).

"Advanced Troop Junior Leader Training: Section IV (Test) of the Scoutmaster's junior Leader Training Kit."
This paper outlines ways to plan and conduct troop junior leader training for older Scouts who have completed the BSA standardized video-based training. The paper gives details of sample games and activities, training schedules and sources of additional ideas for "advanced" training (43 pages).

"Troop Committee Training: An Outline and Field Test for Unit-Conducted Training Sessions."
After documenting a need for training for unit committees, this paper suggests a simple yet effective model for conducting unit-planned training sessions. Games and topics are suggested, and sources are recommended for creating similar training sessions for unit committee training. Appendix contains an example of a "formal" training agenda for day-long District-run course (67 pages).

"Case Study of Training Techniques and Support Offered in the Districts to Newly Recruited Unit Commissioners."
Based on data derived from a survey to District Commissioners, this thesis reveals some areas for needed improvement in the training of new Unit Commissioners. A need for evaluation of performance of "experienced" Unit Commissioners is also discussed (65 pages).

"Case Study of Employing Newsletters and Meetings in the Fireside Format for Promoting Greater Communication with Unit Committee Chairmen."
Topics of particular interest to Committee Chairmen are detailed in this thesis, and samples of actual newsletters and meeting agendas are furnished in the appendix. The problem presented by a lack of integrated BSA communication with Committee Chairmen is discussed. Success of the proposed method was verified by questionnaires to Committee Chairmen (84 pages).

"Compiling of Computer Scouting Graphics for use by the Volunteer Scouters, the Professional Council Scouters, and the Office Staff of the GEC, BSA."
Starting with clip art from the national office (BSA), improved graphic images are created and stored on disks for use by Scouters. Original artwork was cleaned-up or redone to improve resolution and faithfulness of the reproduction. Illustrations of all graphic images are included (65 pages).

A complete inventory of eighteen (18) religious awards currently available to Scouts. Includes copies of pamphlets and instructional guides, illustrations of the awards, and requirements for attaining them (20 pockets with materials).

Sample nomination forms and improved instructions for completing the forms are featured. The thesis attempts to improve the quality of information obtained that will assist evaluators in their task of reviewing the nominations and selecting recipients of the Silver Beaver (12 pages).
