To register for either event please got to Event Registration on the GEC home page, at the left. Then select either registration for Yolo New Leader Essentials or Yolo Outdoor Leader Skills
New Leader Essentials 8:00 AM – 9:30 PM
This is the initial training for all adult leaders serving youth in the Boy Scouts of America. Through a series of lively presentations, this 90-minute training presents an overview of the core elements of Scouting.
Leader Specific Training
Cub Sessions 10:00 AM-12:30 PM
Boy Scout & Varsity Sessions 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
Varsity Coach Session 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
Cub Scouts who complete New Leader Essentials & a Cub Scout session will receive a Trained patch. Boy Scout and Varsity Leaders must attend New Leader Essentials, the Boy Scout or Varsity session and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Training to receive a Trained patch.
Basic Leader Training (New Leader Essentials)
The New Leader Essentials training is designed for all volunteers in all programs. It provides the basics of the Scouting programs, the age appropriateness of those programs, and our values and methods. The New Leader Essentials is provided as the first part of Adult Leader Basic Training, the remainder of the course is Leader Specific Training which addresses specific leadership positions in the different programs.(All Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters must also complete Outdoor Leader Skills Training to complete their Basic Leader Training.)All leaders complete The New Leaders Essentials portion, then break out into individual groups for specific training.
