This registration is for the 6-day Summer NYLT course, July 9 - July 14, 2018.  Attendance on all 6 days is mandatory to graduate. 


Monday, July 9th 12:00 PM - Saturday, July 14th 5:30 PM

Please mark your calendars now for one of the mandatory Parent-Scout orientation nights.  The Scout and one or both parents should attend either:
Friday June 1st- LDS Church, 1101 51st St., Sacramento 95826- 7pm OR
Saturday June 2nd- LDS Church, 1259 French Ave., Gridley 95948- 11am

Graduation starts at 5:00 PM on July 14th.  Parents, please arrive no earlier than 4:30PM for the graduation.

Participant Requirements:

  • NYLT assumes that all those attending have mastered basic camping skills. All participants should be familiar with the outdoor camping skills expected of a First Class Scout, including outdoor cooking, knot tying/lashing, campsite set-up, etc.
  • NYLT is an advanced leadership course that requires the ability of the candidate to function successfully in a classroom/outdoor setting from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm.  Candidates should also have the temperment to work well with others.
  • Registered members of the Boy Scouts of America
  • Scout with First Class Rank, Venturing Crew Member or Sea Scout Member
  • Recommended age: 13-20

Fee Information:
Course Fee: $275 for Participants. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due with your application, balance due in full by June 9, 2018 with all paperwork. If full payment is not received by this date, your scout's position may be given to another and he/she will be moved to the wait list.

Payment may be made on-line or by check payable to Golden Empire Council.

If paying by Check:

  • Write on the check: Summer 2018 Full Week NYLT, Acct: 1-6801-527 and your child’s name.

  • Please send checks to: Golden Empire Council, P.O. Box 13558, Sacramento, CA 95815.

Refund Policy:

1. There will be no refunds after the start of the course.
2. Before the course starts, Registered participants of the Council NYLT must submit a written request for a refund to the Council NYLT Course Director.
3. Based on the GEC refund policy stated below, the NYLT Course Director, with approval from the Council, is authorized to make the refund to the participant as follows:
    A. Before June 3rd, 2018 the refund will be 100% of the course fee.
    B. After June 3rd, 2018, if a registered participant of the Council NYLT finds that they cannot attend, they will receive a full refund from the GEC, BSA, if there is an alternate* available to fill the vacancy.
    C. If an alternate is not available, a partial refund may be made at the Course Directors prerogative. This includes the fees paid to date, less an administrative fee of $50.00 and other expenses related to contractual agreements made on the participant’s behalf.

*An alternate may be selected from the course waiting list, if there is one, or could be a properly qualified youth recruited by the person requesting a refund. To be properly qualified, the youth must be approved and approved by his or her unit leader. Fees paid by alternates not selected as registered participants will be refunded in full. By registering your youth on the Golden Empire council website, you are agreeing to the terms of the payment and refund policies.

BSA Medical Forms ABC (printing 2014) are required to attend NYLT.

Please make sure all immunization dates are listed on the medical form. If part C was completed on or after July 1, 2017 you can use it for this course. Please do not e-mail medical forms, instead, please mail them to the Registrar's address above along with all requested documentation.
