COUNCIL PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS 

 

  ACTIVITIES

  • “Scouting For Food” Good Turn collected over 100,000 pounds of food for area food banks.
  • 7,200 youth and adults participated in the Scout Expo event at Beale Air Force Base.
  • Volunteer leaders provide over 2.5 million hours in service.
  • Youth members provided 90,000 Eagle Service Project hours and 300,000+ hours in community service projects.

 

CAMPING

  • 2,835 youth members participated in resident camping this past summer.
  • Thousands of Scouts participated in Camporees to test their outdoor skills.
  • 3,087 Cub Scout attending a district day camp, 9% increase.
  • All three summer camps were nationally accredited.
  • 68 participants attended National Camp School at Camp Lassen

 

TRAINING

  •  Adult training courses were held for all divisions and in all districts.
  • 295 training awards were earned.
  • 41 Scouters attended Wood Badge.
  • Over 580 Adult Leaders attended the Council University of Scouting
  • 30 Commissioners graduated from the College of Commissioner Service.
  • 26 District and Council Scouters attended the Council Key Leadership Conference.
  • 121 attended the National Youth Leadership Training Courses

 

ADVANCEMENT

  •   7,805 Cub Scout advancements were earned.
  • 4,073 Boy Scout advancements were earned.
  • 1,076 Webelos Scouts earned their Arrow of Light Award.Taken from Scout Expo 2007
  •   Over 16,640 merit badges were earned.
  • 2 Scouts earned the national Lifesaving Awards

SERVICE TO YOUTH IS OUR BUSINESS

 

A Council provides partnership support to Charter Partner Organizations of Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, and Venturing Crews, through service to leaders and their units in the following ways:

 

  • The Council employs a trained, full-time professional staff to counsel, guide and inspire through recruitment, training and funding.
  • The Council maintains service centers with clerical staff to help leaders with the administration of their units.
  •  The Council provides units with District and Council activities, i.e. camping, training, and service projects.
  •  The Council makes available educational aids such as program helps, audio/visual materials and equipment, and handbooks.
  • The Council produces support materials like newsletters, meeting agendas, calendars, and training handouts.
  •   The Council provides protection for all youth, adults and sponsoring organizations through liability insurance, and specialized training in Youth Protection, Health & Safety, and Drug Abuse Prevention.
