Golden Empire Council Contingent
Celebrate the 100th Birthday of the Boy Scouts of America
at the
2010 National Jamboree
July 26 – August 4, 2010
Caroline County, Virginia

 

 

Eligibility: Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts must be at least First Class Scouts. They must have completed the sixth grade or be at least 12 years of age by July 1, 2010, but not have reached their 18th birthday by August 4, 2010. All Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts must participate in all pre-jamboree training experiences; file a complete Personal Health and Medical Record, No. 67-34412-10, prior to the pre-jamboree training; have been active in a troop or team for at least six months prior to July 1, 2010; and be approved by the unit leader and local council.

 
Cost: Golden Empire Council Contingent participants will pay a fee of ranging from $2,800 to $3,500, depending on the final tour, equipment, and Jamboree fees. Final cost will be announced as soon as these fees are determined. The cost will include Jamboree fees, touring fees, meals, Jamboree equipment, insurance, luggage, pre-Jamboree training, and some patches and uniform parts. A monthly payment plan will be announced. 
 
Tour: The Golden Empire Council Jamboree Committee will select an educational and fun-filled tour. Past itineraries have included some or all of these sights: Washington DC, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Mt. Vernon, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and New York City. The GEC contingent will travel before or after the National Jamboree. The Jamboree will be conducted from July 26 – August 4, 2010.
 
Youth Applications: Scouts wishing to participate in the 2010 National Jamboree should fill out the preliminary application on the attached sheet and pay a $200.00 deposit. This $200.00 deposit will hold your spot in one of the eight anticipated troops from the Golden Empire Council. Adult Applications: Adults wishing to apply for one of four adult leadership positions in the Golden Empire Council’s seven troops should fill out an adult application. Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmaster must understand the commitment to the National Jamboree Council Contingent. Leaders will be expected to participate in monthly meetings and pre-Jamboree training until the time of the Jamboree.Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters must have completed Scout Leader Essential Training. Woodbadge is highly recommended. Scout leaders must be registered and have leadership experience.

 

Scoutmaster and Assistant candidates will be interviewed by the Jamboree Leadership Selection Committee. After the committee has reviewed your application they will schedule you for an interview. Applications must be in Sacramento Service Center by April 15, 2008. Please mail or fax this form to:
