Following the trail all the way to Salmon Falls Bridge is in excess of 13 miles. A shorter hike can end at New York Creek or Sweetwater Creek. Whatever length trek you choose , the segment may be better hiked in the reverse direction. Using the marina parking lot provides restrooms, water, a phone, a definite endpoint, and may reduce confusion, creating an easier pickup.
Passing through some developed residence areas, the trail can often be lost in a myriad of use trails. In the middle of the east side of New York Creek Cove the trail is hard to find.
