Venture Leader Training

Venturing is a Scouting program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the 8th grade) through 20 years of age. Golden Empire Council offers training programs for Venturing crew leaders. These programs are delivered on request. Please contact the Council Training Committee to schedule training for your unit!

Adult Crew Leader Basic Training

Venturing Leader Training begins with Fast Start On-line or, check out the video from the Council library. Once a Venturing Leader has completed Fast Start training, the next step is basic training. Adult Venturing Leader Basic is the first formal group training a Venturing receives. This course may be given in multi-sessions or in one day. It is designed to introduce the adult Venturing crew leaders to the basic information needed to operate a crew. This training is divided into four parts.

Part I provides Advisors with an introduction to the purpose and mission of Venturing.
  • Part II teaches about the characteristics of Venturing-age youth.
  • Part III provides an orientation on how to organize a crew.
  • Part IV teaches how to plan an annual program, how to train crew officers, and provides the details of the Venturing advancement program.

Once you have completed Fast Start and Adult Venturing Leader Basic, you are a trained adult Venturing leader and can wear the Trained patch for your position!
