NRA Range Safety Officer Course

This is a course designed to prepare adults to the basic duties of a Range Safety Officer (RSO). RSOs ensure that the users of a range follow range regulations in order to reduce property damage and personal injury. RSOs often have responsibilities to take action when circumstances require it. The RSO is the range's official on the firing line to ensure safety and to help shooters. There will be practical exercises with all types of firearms in this course.

Course content includes: ensuring the range is safe to use; conducting range safety briefings for shooters; handling ammunition and firearm malfunctions safely; supervising safety aspects of shooting activities; and handling emergency procedures as established by the range management. There are no prerequisites for this NRA training course.

Join the High Adventure Team e-mail list

"The HAT Team now operates a moderated (no SPAM!) email discussion list hosted on the Council servers (secured access). The purpose of this list is to act as a forum for all Golden Empire Council units to share their high adventure experiences, ask questions, share answers, announce trek openings, and talk about just about anything to do with high adventure Scouting.

To participate in these discussions, you need to signup with the HAT list. You can do this by sending a request to the HAT Webmaster at Webmaster(at)gec-hat(dot)org or by self registering at http://beta.genesisnetsolutions.com/mailman/listinfo/hatlist_gec-bsa.org .

After signing up with the HAT list, you can send messages to the list at hatlist(at)gec-bsa(dot)org. Messages from the list will come from this same email address so if you have a SPAM filter, you should add this address to your friends list to assure that you get the latest high adventure information.

Feel free to share details on your upcoming trek, announce openings in your crew, ask questions about any related topic, share your trip journals, etc. The more information that gets shared, the better the outings should be!

We also encourage you to visit HAT's web site at http://www.gec-bsa.org/program/training/adulttraining/highadventure for free downloads, loads of tips & hints, links to interesting sites, and the current schedule of HAT training programs.
