Graduation starts at 4:30 PM on September 27th

Parents and friends please arrive no earlier than 4:00 PM for graduation.

Participant Requirements:

  • NYLT assumes that all those attending have mastered basic camping skills. All participants should be familiar with the outdoor camping skills expected of a First Class Scout, including outdoor cooking, knot tying/lashing, campsite set-up, etc.

  • Currently a registered member of a Scouting unit and have a unit leader recommendation

  • Have a current BSA Health and Medical Record form parts A, B, and C, (2019 version) signed by the physician on or after 9/28/2019.  The medical form must be valid for the duration of the course.

  • Scouts BSA members (male and female) must be at least 13 years of age and fall within the maximum age allowance for their program.  They must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops

  • Venturers and Sea Scouts (male and female) must be at least 14, or 13 and have completed eighth grade, and fall within the maximum age allowance for their program. They must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews or Ships. It is recommended that they have had at least one year of camping experience. While NYLT is not an outdoor skills course, it is important that each participant have basic camping and outdoor cooking experience.

The current BSA Medical Form ABC (printing 2019) is required, along with a copy of the front and back of his/her medical card.  Please make sure all immunization dates are listed on the medical form.  If Part C was completed on or after September 28, 2019 you can use it for this course.

Fee Information:
Course Fee: $275 for Participants. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due with your application, balance due in full by August 11, 2020 with all paperwork submitted and in good order.  If full payment is not received by this date, your scout's position may be given to another and he/she will be moved to the wait list.

Payment may be made on-line or by check payable to Golden Empire Council.

If paying by Check:

  • Write on the check: NYLT 2020-2, Acct: NYLT Summer 6801-538 and your child’s name.

  • Please send checks to: Golden Empire Council, P.O. Box 13558, Sacramento, CA 95815.

  • Check must be received no later than August 11, 2020

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

Course fees may be transferable or refundable, as follows:

  • NYLT cancellations are fully transferable to another Golden Empire Council NYLT course in the same calendar year, as long as notification is received in writing at least 30 days prior to the first day of your course. 
  • NYLT cancellations requesting to be transferred to another Golden Empire Council NYLT course in the same calendar year, but received inside the 30 days, are subject to cancellation fees as noted below.
  • Cancellations must be received in writing at least 30 days prior to the first day of your course. A $100 fee will be applied.  The amount remaining, if any, will be refunded.
  • For cancellations received inside of the 30 days, a fee of $150 will be applied.  The amount remaining, if any, will be refunded.
  • No-shows, or registrants who do not submit a written explanation for cancellation prior to the start date of the course, will forfeit all fees.
  • Exceptions to the processing fee/cancellation policy are as follows:
    • Military service
    • Death of a registrant or immediate family member
    • Medical incidents or injury to the registrant, on a case by case basis
  • ​All cancellation requests should be submitted in writing to the Golden Empire Council NYLT Coordinator at nyltinfo@gec-bsa.org .
  • ​By registering your youth on the Golden Empire Council website, you are agreeing to the terms of the payment and refund policies.
